According to data from the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy, in the second quarter of 2025, the national power generation soared by 50% year-on-year to 2.735 TWh, meeting 91% of the domestic electricity demand for the first time. Among them, the contribution of reached 70%. Wind power (1.066 TWh) and solar power (0.746 TWh) achieved 59% and 43% year-on-year growth respectively, driving the proportion of clean energy to reach an all-time high.

 

The grid operator Litgrid stated that the installed capacity of wind power reached 4341MW, an increase of 33% compared to the previous year. In conjunction with the synchronized operation with the continental European power grid, the electricity export rose by 58% to 0.876TWh. Although the electricity demand of residents increased by 4%, the increase in local power generation led to a 10% decrease in electricity imports. The deputy minister of energy emphasized that the next step will be to focus on deploying to enhance the flexibility of the power grid.
